Welcome to LittleBigPlanet Vita's first crown competition!

Please read through this whole post carefully.

You are challenged to make a level using two of LittleBigPlanet Vita's new and coolest features. Touch and Tilt. The theme, story, type and the length of the level is up to you. Just have fun and get creative with it!

Contest officially starts on October 5th 12:00 am GMT and ends 15th November 12:00 am GMT (Six weeks)

Posted Image

We want you to make any kind of level which implements the Touch and Tilt controls of the Vita to progress through the level. You do not need to make the entire level using Touch and Tilt controls though. You can make any kind of level, a pure touch and tilt based mini game, a platformer with touch and tilt based obstacles, etc. Anything goes! What kind of level you make is up to you. Just make sure it involves some touch and tilt based controls.

Once you have made your level you will have to post it in this thread using the following format:

Quote

My entry for the Touch & Tilt contest: (LBP.me Level Link here)

If you would like an example of what we are looking for from this contest. You can play our contest information level: (Link coming soon)

  • The level title must include [LBLV1] (ex: [LBLV1] Touchy Platformer)
  • Your level must include some front and/or rear Touch and Tilt controls
  • Your level must be a newly published level
  • If your level has any major bugs in it, then you can contact a member of staff to get permission to make changes after the deadline
  • You can get friends to help you. But only the person who enters will receive the prize
  • Try to keep your level to about 5-10 minutes. Quality over quantity!
  • The judges decision is final

We have 3 Rare Prize Crowns to give out to our 3 favourite levels. Along with 3 LittleBigLand pins (pins will only be awarded in LBP Vita).

Please Note: The Rare Prize Crown is a cross-compatible DLC and will also work in LBP2. The LittleBigLand pin will only be awarded in LBP Vita though.

Q: How long does the level have to be ?
A: Enough to keep us entertained! But please do try to keep it to about 5-10 minutes long.

Q: Can I make a versus, co-op only or cut scene level?
A: No. The level has to be completable by at least 1 player and pure cut scene levels are not allowed, although you can include small cut scenes in your level.

Q: Can I enter no matter what region I'm from ?
A: This contest is for SCE (Sony Computer Entertainment) - America, Europe, and Japan regions. Please make sure your game is within those regions.

Q: How long will judging go on for ?
A: We will aim to judge all levels within 4 weeks. However, this could be much longer or shorter depending on how many entries we receive.

Q: What will my level be judged on ?
A: We will be judging levels on many factors, (Which we will not go into) but the main factor your levels will be judged on is... How well "Touch & Tilt" gameplay is implemented.

Q: Can the level include level links?
A: Yes, your level can include level links for any purpose.  Just remember that the goal is quality over quantity.

Q: Who can I contact if I have any personal questions?
A: You can contact any of our Admins or Mods if you have any questions

Please Note: Any answers to questions asked about this contest will be updated here. So please check back regularly to keep up with changes.

Interesting contest.  I like the open ended nature giving people the ability to make levels that fit they create style.

A question for clarification.  The blog says that you touch and tilt controls are required while this post says explicitly that you need front and rear touch and tilt.

My question is if both a front and rear touch is a requirement or if the level needs to have a touch mechanic that can be either front or rear?

Otherwise it is nice to see a forum hitting the ground running with the Vita side of things.  Nice work.

Happy to record outstanding levels, provide feedback or simply write one hundred words when twenty would be just fine.  Cheers

Great! 3 Rare Prize Crowns?! That's amazing! With so much time spent in LBPV I'm sure I'll give it a try. Good luck everybody!

P.D. Yeah, I've got the same question that Trindall. Is using front AND rear touch obligatory?

Thanks Trindall. To answer your question, you are required to use any touch (front, back, or both) and the tilt.

EDIT: Actually, I'm not entirely sure. I will have to talk to the Staff and see what they say.

EDIT 2: We decided that you can use either or both touch options in your level.

I'm going try and enter this one. Ideas are running through my head right now.
I really hope I can crank out a level in time for this. LBL is the best. Yay for awkward, halting sentences.

One question guys! When you place a controllinator in a level, the different "tilt" detector options available are 4: Roll, Move, Move In/Out, and Tilt. The thing is, I want to make a level based on "Roll" tilting. That means moving the Vita like in Nuclerafish's MM picked level. I'm just wondering, can we use this feature ("Roll" detector) without using the "Tilt" detector option in the level? Or do we have to use the TILT option (the one that detects if you're moving the Vita like in that eye maze level from the Story Mode)?

Tilting the Vita is what we're looking for. Doesn't matter how you do it, just make it so we have to tilt the Vita at some point to accomplish something :)
