The members of gameartisans.org have made some amazing 3D renders for a mini contest hold on that site, you can clearly see that there is some serious tallent on there and we really wanted to show you guys some of the renders submitted. The deadline of this contest has already arrived but this what they had to say about it:


Media Molecule, creators of Little Big Planet, are watching over this Special Mini. Winner will receive a congrats letter and a suprise gift from the makers!

The Brief: Give us your best 3D rendition of a ‘Sackboy’. This can be of your own design or you can do a design based of a existing character(Film, Games, Books, TV…)

As always, backgrounds are optional. Pedestals are optional. Basically… everything is optional. This challenge is here for those desiring to practice their art and receive friendly advice from fellow artisans. So keep it easy, keep it quick, and keep it real. Good Luck!

Please do not make a new thread for your entry. Keep all w.i.p shots in this specific thread.

It’s STRONGLY encouraged that you post progress images as replies this thread. We’re not forcing everyone to yet, but half of the point of these minis are to help build up the community. If you’re posting last minute without at least saying hello, then you’re missing all the fun! Stop lurking!

The Specs:
- 2000 tri’s
- 1×512 diffuse
- Optional 512 bonus maps: ANY/ALL are permitted(Normal, Spec, Gloss, Glow, Bump…. Make something pretty.)

    Please, MM, contact creators and release officially some of their renders as Sackboy Costume ! <3
    And launch some more great events like this one, coz it's making some hope for us to see it in-game one day ! :D
    (next one seggestion : rendering a new power up or tool for the game ! ;p)

      They said in the beta forum that they would never do that.

      It’s some legal issue, they can’t use user suggested content so they ask you not to email or send them any suggestions

    Nice. Love the Grunt sackboy for ME2. I’ve always wanted to see an ME pack and that justl ooks epic shame that one more then likely will never come at all but it’s always fun to dream. I also like the Sauron sackboy costume on the site, that looks interestinga nd a LotR pack would also make an intersting pack but again it probably won’t come either.
    On another note you guys should really add Gmail as an account you can use to post up comments, just think it would be a good thing and have come across a lot of sites that allow you to use that as well.

    The Robocop one is hands down the coolest costume I’ve seen so far. Too bad it won’t make it into the game.
