Here’s just a quick post to create some awareness about some security issue questions AmazingFlyingPoo has been receiving in regards to LittleBigHub.

AmazingFlyingPoo:

I’ve had a lot of people on Twitter and LBP forums asking me why there isn’t a security issue since LBP Hub allows people to access the app with only a username but no password. I have been trying to explain it every time I was asked, but that was becoming a lot of work, so I figured I would just make this blog and explain it.

When using LBP.me, you can access a lot of information without actually logging in at all. For instance, try going on LBP.me, making sure you are logged out, and then try to figure out what information you can find about yourself and your levels without being logged in at all. I bet you’ll find just about everything unless you have set up security on your account.

Well, LBP Hub allows you access to all of these things, but by supplying your PSN to the app, it lets the app know what information you will most likely want access to, and then it can grab everything you will be looking for (level activity, reviews, comments, etc…). It also lets the app know what info you will be wanting in your Recent Activity screen when the app is opened later on.

So no need to worry. Suplying your PSN is only to show you the stuff you want to see.

AmazingFlyingPoo:

If you want to do something that needs to be secure, like Queuing a level, then the app will require you to actually log into PSN. But even when you do this, the app is not storing any of that information. Instead it allows you to sign in through Safari so it is just as secure as using Safari on your device to login to LBP.me. Your password is not stored in-app, so LBP Hub is completely secure.

Hopefully this helps to explain why LBP Hub allows you to sign in with only a PSN username and no password. I assure you that it is completely secure and no one can tamper with your account unless you give them your password

If you haven’t already, you can download this awesome app for iPhone, iPad and iPod HERE. If you have any questions in regards to the app you can get in touch through the official twitter account HERE.

Then again… What is he going to do with a PSN ID? XD He isn’t gaining significant knowledge by storing usernames… lol, passwords I can understand, but IDs?
