We all knew about it. But now it’s official! Moments ago LittleBigKarting was announced on the Playstation Blog.

Earlier this year, we cut some cake and popped some champagne to celebrate Media Molecule’s sixth birthday! We’ve had an awesome time during the last six years, seeing how the experiment we started here in Guildford has grown, giving rise to a thriving LittleBigPlanet community. This year will be no different, filled with DLC, plus new experiments from the LBP family for you to play with.

You already know about the fantastic LBP work that Tarsier Studios and Double Eleven Studios are doing on LittleBigPlanet for PS Vita, and now we are delighted to announce today a new LBP collaboration with the hugely talented team at United Front Games who will be leading a new project called LittleBigPlanet Karting! We’ve all seen that UFG has a wealth of racing experience and they’re also intimately familiar with LBP’s cornerstones of “Play, Create, Share.” With LBP’s powerful and diverse toolset in their capable hands, LittleBigPlanet Karting is sure to be an adventure that both LBP fans and kart-racing fans alike will enjoy! We are eager to see what you think of this union and especially excited to see what happens now that you can create in a 3D environment — it’s the start of a whole new LBP world! Have a look at the debut trailer to see for yourself.

This looks much better than I expected. It looks like the create engine may be very versatile and there will even be tools like grappling hooks. Imagine driving up to a jump that required a grappling hook and needing to drive over the grappling hook to pick it up and then immediately use it as you go over the jump. Sounds pretty intense :-)

I know this off topic but whats going to happen with “LBP2Blog.com” will the team for LBL take it over or what. other then that I am going 2 Game stop and pre-ordering this right away as always with the previous titles.

Tyler from lbp2blog has already joined the lbl team for blogging and fodawim may also join at some point. So basically lbp2blog is merging with lbl.

I hope there will be some sort of delicious create mode where you can create your own tracks :D
I’ve already got one in mind ;)
BTW, I may look stupid asking this, but is this the ‘new game’ Mm said they’re making ?

    • http://www.melovewebdesign.com/ bludhound

No. This is being made by United Front Games. The same people who made ModNation racers.

      • Danman517

Sorry, I was in a rush so I only read some of it. Thanks for clearing that up though :)

  • Nightwing0613

This should’ve been a DLC expansion for LBP2.

I wonder if all the costumes, items, objects, etc from this game can be exported over to LBP2.

  • mrmarc1996

So basically it’s Modnation Racers 2 except with LittleBigPlanet slapped on it so that it will sell better?
    It still looks pretty cool.
