The Rumor Mill: Return of the Space Suit and Other Limited Time Costumes

Boy, oh boy do I have some news for you sackfolks. StevenI from LittleBigWorkshop passed a very interesting tidbit our way from a post that can be found here.

In a thread conversing “Space” as well as “DLC”, Sam Protagonist jumped in and made this comment in reply to a post about MM not being willing to re-release the Spacesuit:

The Spacesuit was released with the game to celebrate its launch. It could therefore be argued that it should be re-issued any time there is another launch

Hmmm…. so what are your thoughts? Will we be seeing some of these rare costumes resurface as downloadable DLC? Should we see them resurface?

Water Levels Coming with Water Tools?

Thanks to the incredibly sharp eye of StevenI over at LittleBigWorkshop.com, we bring you some exciting speculation (yeah, you heard it right, nothing can be said for sure yet). If you head over to the LittleBigPlanetUK YouTube Channel, you can find a quote from LittleBigPlanetUK which says:

“Hey everyone.. no word yet from MM on the water levels – will let you know as soon as we can though! ”

Which seems to imply we could be getting a level pack along with the Water Tool when it comes

WATER IS COMING TO LBP!!!

HUGE news was just announced over at MediaMolecule.com! In a blog post named “Just add water…”, it was announced that we will be getting water in LBP to use in our levels! This water won’t just act as something you can walk through, it is actually something that sackboy SWIMS though.

Check out the following video:

As you can see, not only can you swim in the water, but it appears that objects can float on the water, and that sackboy can be allowed to only breath for so long (maybe a setting you can adjust when you put it in your level), plus there are some pretty sweet water physics in that video!

According to the posting, water will come in an up-and-coming “downloaded add-on kit”.

LBP Game of the Year Edition

Hidy Ho Sackfolks! We’ve got some interesting news for you today, the Game of the Year edition of LBP has been announced.

So, you may wonder, what’s so special about this new edition? Well, let me tell you:

Pretty exciting stuff, huh? But this leaves an obvious question for us folks who already have the game, will we be able to get our hands on these level? Kinda makes you think that maybe this is going to be Mm’s big upcoming announcement (that there will be an 18 level DLC pack…hmmm… sounds like that would make a good Rumor Mill…

Team ICO DLC Details: SotC Edition

Yesterday Mm promised us more details on the Team ICO DLC that is coming on Thursday. Well, over at MediaMolecule.com they have posted some pictures of the costumes as well as a brief description of Shadow of the Colossus.
Here are the pictures of the costumes (and just for the record, the fact that Quadratus has a guy hanging from his arm is probably the coolest thing I have ever seen):

Alrighty, so let’s get down to business. If you haven’t played Shadow of the Colossus before, you need to immediately drop everything you are doing and go out and buy a copy since it is one of the best games ever made.
Oh, and one more thing, Mm says there is more news coming about the stickers, sound effects, and pricing for the DLC.

Creator Pack 1 Available Now!

Great news Sackboys and Sackgirls, the new Creator Pack 1 is out now. It includes a global lighting switch, infinite life checkpoints, and other great tools to mess around with.

In order to access the tools, you need to download them from the download planet in the main menu of LittleBigPlanet.

WipEout Costumes Preview

Choices, choices. Tell Mm what content YOU want

Sam Protagonist has posted on the community forums asking what content you would like to see more of and asks that you vote as follows:

- Choose your top 3 most important types of content
- List them in order of importance

Your choices are :

Accessories
Background themes (the animated backdrop to levels)
Costumes
Gadgets (like the Paintinator)
Levels (designed by Mm on various themes)
Materials (different kinds of wood, metal, stone etc)
Music/sound effects
Objects (like the orange, soccer ball and so on)
Stickers (particularly "effect" type stickers such as bullet holes, or numbers and letters)
Tools (new switches, sensors etc)

No added functionality such as liquids, image importing and the like though

LBP DLC update 29th Jan 09 – surprise in store!

As expected following last week’s schedule announcement the God Of War Pack, Kratos costume and Groundhog Day Costume are now available for download from the PlayStation Store.

In a surprise move the Ape Escape and Toro costumes, not expected until Feb 12th, are also in the store!

UPDATE: we’ve just had confirmation from Sam Protagonist that the EU store has been somewhat ‘over-zealous’ in releasing the Ape Escape and Toro costumes too early. Grab them while you can!

UPDATE 2: the same ‘accidental’ release of the Ape Escape and Toro costumes has occurred at the US PlayStation Store, but unlike at the EU Store where they were pulled very quickly – these have remained live so far, hours after release. Another example of the EU being snubbed maybe or a genuine mistake that is taking far longer to rectify than it should? Either way, many European Sackpeople will be frowning today
